Bio - Heather Morris
the nutshell:
I wasBorn in LA, Moved to France at age 1, Moved back to the States at
18. Went to College in Oregon, lived in WA for the next 17 years
and moved to KY in 2005.
I grew up in two cultures speaking two languages: French and English
(American) and honestly, though I eventually realized this was a
priviledge, I just thought it was 'normal' for a long time.
I am a mix of both these cultures and appreciate them individually for
how they have both influenced who I am today ... and While one inspired my creativity , the other has given me the opportunity.
more specifically:
My passion for photography started very early on in life in rural
France. Even then, I was fascinated with trying to capture
pictures from different angles and once
a year, I tried to catch 'action' shots of the
Tour de France when the riders raced by our little town of Boran Sur Oise.
Clearly Living in a culture rich
in the Arts encouraged my creativity in many areas including
music, drawing, painting and of course, photography.
The photographers that first inspired me?
Robert Doisneau (my favorite picture being the famous ' Kiss by the Hotel de Ville in Paris , 1950')
Ansel Adams (too many favorites to mention!)
The photographers that continue to inspire me?
Christopher Burkett for his amazing ability to capture nature -especially the vibrant colors (unedited)
( this is pre-digital age meaning pre-photoshop!)
And When I started to do Weddings it was Denis Reggie /Bambi Campdrell and their work that really inspired me.
I had always had a knack for
capturing 'emotions' in a candid way though I did not yet know the term
'photojournalism'. It was very exciting to find someone as
incredible as M.Reggie out there willing to share his knowledge and on
a personal level, validate the importance of capturing once in a
lifetime moments by allowing them to happen and then documenting them
vs. trying to create them.
It has been a crazy journey that has brought me to where I am at now
and I appreciate it all believing every aspect and every road
I've traveled has helped me to develop
a healthy appreciation for the human spirit, for its
individuality, its strength and its potential....
I am truly passionate about what I do and I am constantly 'moved' by what I am priviledged to capture.
It is Not because of what I can do with a piece of equipment but
by You who is/who are on the other side of the lense that I am amazed...
I hope that
the glimpses I capture inspire You to see all that you are... all that
you can be.
- Always an Honor....
